watercolor and gold acrylic paint on bristol, 2021
Having, Doing, Being is a series of paintings that explore our relationships to states of consciousness, and objects as metaphysical containers/vessels. Everyday objects, and common object shapes reference materialism, consumption, beliefs around transformation, and affability/ineffability. Through an examination of our personal relationships to the physical world, we bring attention to inner planes of human existence.
Isolated shapes in space are my means of playing with our human desire to connect, make meaning, and derive familiarity. Objects with limited context provide a playing field for free associations and deeper inquiries to our physical world, and ultimately allow us to interface with our inner emotional states.
